October?

October 29th, 2008

Where has the month gone?

A week in Missouri to see my baby brother and his sweetheart wed . . . aren’t they just beautiful?  Her dress circa 1950’s, hat-circa 1930’s.

Friends abound carving pumpkins the afternoon of the reception.  The end result–lovely!

A weekend in beautiful Yosemite.  On our way, we happen upon a real Native American Powwow.  The children were simply enchanted (photos via Sophie for a photography competition).

Hike to the falls, big Alph had Ollie on his shoulders the whole way.  The next morning as the children stir I hear “Oh, my bum . . . it hurts!”  It was a pretty steep hike:)

Family and friends visiting.  A quick weekend with Tasha and Dave in Monterey (ask her how we ambushed a Michael’s and set up camp in a craft room) and one with the ever-welcome B. Wises.  My favorite days are these “cousinfest” days.  Serious play from sunup to sundown.  (We are crossing our fingers they will get their dream house right down the road.)

Indian summer days full of soccer practice, piano lessons and homework.  Feeling a bit too busy, and trying to find ways to slow down and enjoy them while they are young.

Found Sam hiding behind his pillow this morning in tears, “you are mad at me mom.”  We were late this morning and I was rushed and impatient.  Not their fault, but mine.  Slow down, Amy, get organized, don’t forget to hug them and tell them how much you love them.

Happy Autumn!

What a fun month! You guys sure know how to pack it all in :) I agree though, where on earth has this month gone? And that I totally need to slow down and take a breather and enjoy my family more. Life can sure catch you up in it!

I love the idea of carving lots of pumpkins for the wedding reception. Brilliant!

So very cool to see a real powwow, and to meet up with Tasha. I bet the two of you are unstoppable.

I’ve missed your posts! It wouldn’t surprise me if Brig and Kristen ended up there–so fun. Those pumpkins are so cool and your brother and his wife what a gorgeous couple! Fun to catch up….I am curious ambushing a Michael’s I am intrigued.

Life is good, isn’t it? Busy, but so good. Thanks for the timely reminder to “get organized and hug them more.” The impatient morning rush is so often my fault. The pumpkins are beautiful, Sophie’s pictures are blue-ribbon worthy, your children are DARLING, your sister-in-law’s wedding attire is so very much something I’d like to wear (my mid-nineties puffy sleeved wedding gown isn’t going to stand the test of time …), and cousinfests are the best - especially if they are with the B. Wises. We,too, are hoping they get the house. They deserve it! I’m already looking forward to coming for a visit!

Happy, happy autumn! The best time of they year.

What a beautiful couple! Love the vintage dress and hat. Those pumpkins are just darling!

    Love Sophie’s photos!!

Don’t be too hard on yourself…I think we all have those hurry, hurry impatient moments.
